The Federal Trade Commission, after a two-year investigation, has declared that Google “had not violated antitrust or anticompetition statutes in the way it arranges its web search results.” Edward Wyatt (The New York Times) discusses competitor concerns that the decision will allow Google to continue its web search domination. Gartner’s French Caldwell blogs about how quickly this case was settled. “Partly it was due to the FTC handling the case instead of the DoJ – so there is acknowledgement in Washington that the FTC has purview over the consumer facing IT industry.”
