The TIME editors have published their annual list of favorite sites. Their “overarching goal is to tell you about a bunch that are new to you – whether they’re just-launched start-ups or underpublicized gems.” There are ten categories and these are the sites listed in the “News and Information” category:

  • Upworthy – a social news site with a focus on content that is inspirational
  • Quartz – quality reporting and analysis on topics from technology to the euro crunch
  • – offers no-nonsense forecasts
  • ChartGirl – easily digested charts
  • Narratively – focuses on stories about people you don’t hear about every day
  • Digital Public Library of America – documents, photos available from various libraries and museums
