Jacqui Cheng (Ars Technica) reports that starting today, the Harold Washington Library in Chicago, is opening a pop up “maker lab,” where soon the general public will have access to 3D printers, laser cutters, milling machines, open source software and computers. The lab, however, is not permanent as the current grant goes through the end of the year. Staff will then determine if the project is a success (my hunch says yes).
